Re: Photo Species of the Week

I have a bunch of these, so it was hard to choose; I decided to go for drama and artistic effect. Laughing Gulls taking their perch on the light poles for the night.

Re: Header logo CSS

I've noticed the title bar logo is only showing the upper-left corner. Here's a small fix for it in colours.css :

I hadn't even seen the change because I didn't clear my cache.

I'll probably find something I like better eventually, but your fix makes it display properly.

Thanks!

I've seen these, and had to learn to distinguish them from the Tropicals, but I don't think I have any photos!

I think you may be confusing them with Wood-Pewees.
Oh my goodness, you're right! I must have been tired when I posted LOL! I have no Eastern Phoebes.

It's been cold here, but not unseasonably so. High 20s to low 30s at night, up to about 70 during the day. All normal for this time of year.

Speaking of frozen bird baths, I finally deployed the bird bath heater I have never previously used since I bought it several years ago. It did a fine ...

I found this info (which you have probably seen) suggesting there was a plan in place but it seems to have fallen behind or been abandoned.

That was the consensus in a local birding group; they are common here. I guess he just had a very yellow belly and had put hair gel in his crest!

Shouldn't be a Yellow-Bellied Elainia...

Time to dust off this sub-forum!

Yesterday and today I saw this bird that has me confused; it looks to me like a Yellow-Bellied Elainia, but they shouldn't be here - I'm in the mountains, about 8000 feet, and they tend to somewhat lower elevations. But I can't figure out what else it could be. I ...

I suspect you are correct and they are domestic birds. We have a colony of more than 100 Rock Pigeons and only two or three are all white.

Bird behavior

I thought it would be fun to have a thread for reporting interesting bird behavior we observe.

This morning I watched a Great-Tailed Grackle catch and eat a small snake, maybe 4 or 5" long. He didn't try to wash it, which I have observed them to do as well. But it's the dry season now, and while I ...

The old forum was run on Invision. But it seems like this one will suit our needs!

I must confess I'm missing the ability to give 'Likes' more than I expected. Sure, we could reply with smilies but that takes up a lot of space and give the impression new content has been posted.

I miss that ...
