Chestnut sided

Post by Sbruenjes »

I know this is a chestnut sided warbler, but is it male or female? The crown seems good for male but the face markings seem light, more like female, compared to the pictures I've seen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It may be an immature bird almost into adult plumage - the limited chestnut on the flanks suggests female to me.
