Palo Duro in late February
My family is taking a trip to Canyon TX next month. I’ve got college online so won’t have as much time as I’d like but should still be fun. Any advice on what to target/places to look for birds? Are canyon wrens found with any regularity anywhere near there?
Re: Palo Duro in late February
Unfortunately I had just started birding when we went so I can't help you much, but I can answer that you shouldn't have any issues finding a Canyon Wren. You'll hear them (and typically see them with any effort) on any rock out cropping or bluff in the western half of Texas.

There will not be any at Palo Duro. But if you go anywhere within the main core of this area that is all there is. https://ebird.org/map/bcxtit1?neg=true& ... 0&eyr=2026Kansabirdguy wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 7:53 pm Could I have a refresher on how to detect titmouse hybrids
But for the id, it's pretty simple, rusty forehead and a in-between crest that doesn't fit Tufted or Black-crested.
