Waved Albatross off Piedras Blancas, CA. Probably the same bird from Bodega Bay last October.

Re: ABA Rare Bird Alert
Photo analysis has shown that this is 100% the same bird as the Bodega Bay bird. It's molting the same secondaries/primaries.Greyhawk wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:54 am Waved Albatross off Piedras Blancas, CA. Probably the same bird from Bodega Bay last October.

Eurasian Sparrowhawk and Asian Rosy-Finch on Adak. Before he retired, my brother had a job that sent him to Adak occasionally.

A link to an article today in The Guardian about this vagrant.Aidan B wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 11:32 pm European Robin in Montreal! First record for Canada!

The Robin is almost certainly the most popular bird in the UK, often appearing on Christmas cards and even has its own song (When the red, red Robin comes...) dating from 1926 with many covers including Al Jolson. They are cute and quite comfortable around people.

Re: ABA Rare Bird Alert
Just a little bit outside of the ABA area, but it's worth noting that there is a Taiga Flycatcher in Baja California Sur right now. Only the third North American record away from far Western Alaska.

Not on the Alert list, I guess because it doesn't have a rarity code yet.
