To keep the thread balanced ... more gulls

Post by SirVive »

Today, Long Beach WA. There were a couple in the group that were noticeably smaller that the 'normal' gulls we get. Not even sure what the 'normal' ones are but here a a couple of poor phone scope shots if they're any help. I have more shots if needed but don't know that they show anything different.

Since I’m clearly the undisputed gull expert here… 🙄 the little one I’m seeing is a Ring-billed gull but not sure that’s the one you were referring to? I also think I’m seeing American Herring, Western, and a Glaucous- winged gull in there. May be incorrect or may have missed a species or two.

The small bird in question is a Ring-billed. I also see a bunch of Olympic-type gulls and some that seem fine for western. There may be a California in the front left of the first shot but I’m not certain. I don’t see any herring

Thanks, that's a lifer for me. Almost certainly not the first I've seen but the first I bothered to chase down an ID for at least.
