I you have the file on your computer, you can use the "Attachment" tab in the lower left of the posting box. After it is uploaded, you can use the "Place inline" button to make it appear in the body of the post.

At the bottom right of a Flickr photo, there is a right-pointing arrow symbol for "Share Photo", Click on it, in the pop-up box click the BBCode tab, copy everything in the box and paste it in your post. I'll put that in a sticky post in this sub-forum soon.

Good morning, Whatbi-

No, that's not right. I have to come up with something else. In the meantime, let's do an oddball choice to get everyone back in the game. Next week I'll let the random number generator take over. It picks from a list of 490 ABA Category 1 birds, although I may toss in a Cat 2 occasionally.

Any bird photographed outside your home country

It doesn't matter if the photo was taken outside your current home country, or away from a place you've lived in the past. As long as you had to cross an international border to take it, it's eligible. The guideline is only one photo per species per week, please. On those occasions when I name more than one species, you're welcome to post one photo of each species. Details and stories behind the photos are encouraged!

I didn't think I was going to be able to find it, but this is the only International photo I am certain of. I am certain of the location, Rockville, Maryland, because it was my first photo of an Eastern Bluebird, and a Christmas present, taken December 25, 2008.

One of my favorite photos of all time, a Rainbow Lorikeet feeding on (cherry?) blossoms in the Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney.

I wouldn't say it wasn't well received, but just like doing an uncommon species many members just simply don't have it.
I have to say though, if I'd have been betting on how many members had been out of the country I'd have guessed higher.

Excluding UK and Canada as home territory this is a November 2009 (pre-birding) photo from a visit to Huntington Beach SP, SC. I think there is Wood Stork, White Ibis, Snowy Egret and D-c Cormorant. Not sure about the one on far right.

I'm guessing you feel the same way about being at Huntington in your pre-birding days as I feel about Sierra Vista in SE Arizona. Anytime you want another shot at it, I'll make space in the guest room.

For sure - I've been all over the US but all before I got more into birding. I did a 10,000km (6,000 mile) road trip in 2012, basically west on US80 to San Francisco, down the coast road to LA and back along US40 (Hurricane Sandy blew in around the time I reached St. Louis) and the only bird photo I got was a California Condor at the Grand Canyon.

Good morning, Birders! The winter storm has stayed to the north of me here in southeastern NC, and I hope the rest of you are coping.

I expected we'd have more people who'd been outside the US. Obviously I was wrong. Who knows, last week's topic might have worked better on the old site. Either way, if you don't have this week's bird, check eBird for one near you.
