Saw this bird in the parking lot of a car dealership next to where we stopped to eat when traveling from Denver to Rocky Mt NP last year.

I've seen these, and had to learn to distinguish them from the Tropicals, but I don't think I have any photos!

Re: Photo Species of the Week
Good morning, Whatbirders! The random number generator spit out an East Coast species this morning, so I'm pairing with a western one!
Laughing Gull
California Gull
The guideline is only one photo per species per week, please. On those occasions when I name more than one species, you're welcome to post one photo of each species. Details and stories behind the photos are encouraged!

I have a bunch of these, so it was hard to choose; I decided to go for drama and artistic effect. Laughing Gulls taking their perch on the light poles for the night.

From the autumn 2023 meeting of the Carolina Bird Club. I picked up a couple of lifer shorbs on this trip. The mosquitos were ... challenging.
