grebe

Need help identifying a bird? Please post your question here and if possible include a photo. Also let us know where and when you saw the bird. I saw this bird today at the pier in Union County, New Jersey. I think it might be a red-necked grebe, but since that would be a new bird for me, I'd like to confirm first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a Red-necked in between plumages. Wait for someone who's more familiar with them.

Agree with Red-necked Grebe. Where in Union County? You should put it on eBird, there haven't been many seen in NJ so far this year.
